Get up and running

01 — Getting Started

First launch

When you open Domus Keep for the first time, you'll set a name for your home and pick a currency. That's it — no account, no email, nothing else required.

Home dashboard after first launch
  1. 1. Enter a name for your home (e.g. "My Home")
  2. 2. Pick your currency — defaults to your device's locale
  3. 3. Tap GET STARTED

Currency affects how amounts are displayed and stored. You can change it later in Settings, but existing amounts won't be converted.

02 — Adding Items

Build your home inventory

Tap Items → + to add a home item. The required fields are just a name and a room. Everything else — brand, model, serial number, purchase date, price, warranty — is optional and can be filled in later.

Items grouped by room

Items

Grouped by room and category — name and room is all you need to start.

Rooms & categories

Items are organized by Room (Kitchen, Living Room, Bedroom, Bathroom, Garage, Outdoor, Other) and Category (Appliances, Electronics, Furniture, Fixtures, Tools, Other). Add and rename your own custom rooms and categories to match your home.

Archiving vs deleting

Deleting an item defaults to archive — it's hidden from the active list but nothing is lost, and you can restore it anytime. Hard delete is available from the item's settings and will permanently remove the item and all its attachments.

03 — Bills & Reminders

Never miss a due date

Bills are recurring household expenses — power, water, internet, rent, any subscription. Add a bill with an amount, a due date, and how often it recurs. Tap Mark Paid when you pay, and the next due date advances automatically.

Reminders are general-purpose alerts — scheduled maintenance, warranty renewals, annual inspections. They can be linked to a specific item or stand alone.

Notification permissions

Domus Keep asks for notification permission the first time you create a reminder — not during onboarding. On Android 12+, you may also be asked to allow exact alarms so reminders fire at the right time. Both prompts include an in-app explanation before the system dialog appears.

04 — Remove Ads

One purchase, every device

Remove Ads is a one-time, non-consumable purchase via Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS). Tied to your account on those platforms — not to Domus Keep itself. Every feature is already in the free app; this only removes ads and unlocks full offline use.

  • Remove ads: Settings → tap the Remove Ads card → confirm via Play / App Store
  • Restore on a new device: Settings → Restore Purchase
  • Refund: handled by Google Play or Apple — Domus Keep doesn't process payments
  • Ads disappear instantly and the app works offline forever once purchased

05 — Backup & Restore

Your data, your control

Settings → Backup → Export Backup creates a .domuskeep file containing:

  • All items, maintenance logs, warranties, bills, and reminders
  • All attached photos, receipts, and documents
  • Your settings (home name, currency, rooms, categories)
  • A metadata file with the backup date and app version

Save the file to cloud storage, email it to yourself, copy it to a computer — your choice. To restore: Settings → Backup → Import Backup → pick the file. Restoring replaces all current data with the backup contents.

Cross-platform restore

A backup made on Android restores on iOS, and vice versa. The backup format is shared between both platforms — your data is portable for life.
